Meet the Intern

Hey everyone! I’m Kendra Matott. I’m working with Donny and Joseph this summer as their intern. I am a photographer currently studying art and history at the State University of New York at Potsdam. I’ve always been interested in fantasy and I try to incorporate it into my photography. I’m excited to be in Los Angeles for the first time, and even more excited to get to help out with the Time of the Faeries this summer. I’ll be working with TOTF until FaerieWorlds, so maybe I’ll see you there!

My internship began last week at the Modelfest 2009 event in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. It was a great week of never-ending shooting-madness. Joseph and the other photographers who attended got to shoot at some beautiful locations, including White Sands and a waterfall that was quite a hike to get to. The rest of the week was spent doing even more photo shoots, including the Seven Deadly Sins which were a lot of fun. At the end of the week, Joseph went away with 15.5 gigs of photos to sort through. We had a wonderful time and ended up with some great shots. Satine Phoenix as a Fairy and a Vampire

We had the amazing fortune to work with the incredibly talented Ms. Satine.  Here are two for you to enjoy: The Drunken Fairy and an as yet untitled Vampire piece.  We placed both of these prints in our ETSY Dollar Sale and they both sold within minutes.  Look for them on ETSY in the next few weeks.  :)

Modelfest 2009 next week!

Modelfest! Modelfest! It’s only one week away and we are completely excited as well as overwhelmed! At last count, we have 625 registered photographers, models, make-up artists, artists, stylists, media, and more coming to Modelfest to work with Joseph in fantasy photography.

 

Joseph will be judging a fun “America’s Next Top Model”-like model competition, possibly giving a fantasy photography workshop, and doing an exclusive photoshoot with the winning model. Get more information on Myspace.com/modelfest_nm.

One of the new angel/fairy hybrid. You can tell the species by the fashion and the wings. This one is wearing jeans, and yet still has color in her outfit. The new hybrid is an evolution for these magickal creature, a way for them to make peace with themselves, to grow and achieve their fullest potential…there are so few of these hybrids in existence right now…what will happen to them should War comes?

Only 5 listed for auction.  Once 5 of these prints sell, then she’s gone!  You can only find this new angel/fairy hybrid at our next artshow or convention. Good luck!

She is not as dark as her sisters yet and may still have a tiny spark of hope in her…This preview is actually about 1/5 of the complete image, with dark alleys and two sister Street Fairies abandoned in the background. The entire Street Fairies series is inspired by our experience in Mexico…

 

We are listing five of this print for auction.  One she sells 5 times, then that’s it, she’s no longer available for sale on the web, but can only be found at our next artshow and convention.

Shooting an angel today.

Sounds dreadful doesn’t it?  We are looking forward to photoshooting an old model we’ve worked with in previous years, Mahdis.  She’s one of the first angels we ever shot, during the time when we still used real wings.  This should be very interesting to see how she does now, without her wings.  The image below is part of the Time of the Faeries book and also available through auction on FuzzB.
